What are "Early Registrations" ?
When the American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) was formed in December
1997, it inherited the InterNIC database of existing IP addresses and
AS numbers, as well as the responsibility to maintain the records in it.
These records became known as "early registrations."
What is the Early Registration Transfer [ERX] Project ?
A decision was made during the transition process that in the interest
of the holders of early (prior to AfriNIC setup) registrations in AfriNIC
region, it would best to manage these registered resources through AfriNIC.
The AfriNIC-ERX Project is therefore conducted to transfer AfriNIC region
early registrations from other RIRs to AfriNIC.
When will the AfriNIC region "Early Registrations" be
transferred ?
We are currently doing the "ERX Project" with RIPE NCC. We hope
to complete by End of February 2007. The details of all registrations
that have been / will be transferred are at:

Any questions regarding this should be addressed to hostmaster@afrinic.net.
