During the 2007 AGM held in Nigeria after the AfriNIC-6 meeting, two seats on the AfriNIC Board (of Directors) - (the Northern and Western Africa seats) was renewed.
After the vote, Rachida Jouhari (Morocco) and Pierre Dandjinou (Senegal) were elected as primary BoDs, while Mokthar Hamidi (Algeria) and Sunday Folayan (Nigeria) were elected as alternates for their respective regions. The elected boards took immediately their seat on the Board.

Pierre Dandjinou is a founding member of Afrinic. He was part of the transitional board and was elected as a member of the first elected board in Dakar, Senegal. He was also appointed Chairman of the board at that time.

Mokhtar has been serving on the board of Afrinic as an elected member from Northern Africa since the first election in Dakar, Senegal. His contribution has always been well appreciated both by his peers on the board and by members of the community.
