Collaboration and mutual support

Whereas AfriNIC is the African network Information Center . a not-for-profit membership
based company made up mainly of Network Operators from Africa ,

Whereas AfriNIC and AfNOG share in many cases the same community,

Whereas AfriNIC and AfNOG have been organizing several meetings together since AfNOG
was setup in year 2000,

Whereas AfriNIC and AfNOG are willing to put together their efforts to enhance Internet
technical and governance knowledge in Africa ,

The two parties agree on the following:

1)   AfriNIC shall nominate a representative on the AfNOG Program Committee and
AfNOG shall nominate a representative on the AfriNIC Meeting Committee.

2)   AfriNIC will, where practical offer logistical support during joint AfriNIC/AfNOG
events.

•  AfNOG will establish and operate connectivity also for AfriNIC part of the joint
annual AfNOG/AfriNIC meetings.

4)   AfriNIC shall provide to AfNOG web and mailing list support at no cost.

5)   AfriNIC will support the establishment of AFNOG secretariat.

6)   AfriNIC and AfNOG will support each other to raise funds for technical education
of networking professionals in Africa .

7) AfNOG will encourage its community to play an active in the AfriNIC policy
evolution and shall always support technical and research projects that AfriNIC might
launch.

8) AfNOG and AfriNIC with prior notification and consultation will represent and promote
each other at public forums.

This agreement will be reviewed every two years after evaluation of its application
and its impact on the common goals which is the growth of Internet knowledge on
the African continent.
