10 June 2016 - The National Telecommunications & Information Administration (NTIA) has announced that the IANA Stewardship Transition Proposal meets the criteria it set to enable completion of privatisation.
As stated in the press release, "the announcement marks an important milestone in the U.S. Government’s effort to complete the transition of the Internet’s domain name system and ensure that the Internet remains a platform for innovation, economic growth, and free speech."
