Pierre Ouedraogo wins the John Postel Service Award

Pierre-Ouedraogo-Postel-Award-winner-010Pierre Ouedraogo is the winner of the 2012 Jonathan Postel Service Award. He was awarded for of his immense contributions to the growth of the Internet in Africa. A founding member of AFRINIC, Mr. Ouedraogo is currently the Director of Digital Francophonie at Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) based in Paris, France. He is also a founding member of numerous organisations including the AfTLD (African Internet Top Level Domain Names Association); AFNOG (African network operators group); AfCERT (African CERT network), and AfrICANN (African network of participants to the ICANN process).

 

The Internet Society presented the award, including a US$20,000 honorarium and a crystal engraved globe, during the 84th meeting of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, July 29 - August 3, 2012. The Award Ceremony was held on 1 August 2012.

 

AFRINIC Training programme achieves IPv6 Forum Gold Certification

AFRINIC has had its training programme recognised and certified by IPv6 Forum with IPv6 Certified (Gold) Course certification. Henceforth, participants to our trainings can now have additional assurance that they are attending training that is designed according to current international standards and best practices. We are working on implementing a testing platform to award participants who pass the test IPv6 Forum Certified Engineer status.

 

   

Alain Aina wins the 2012 Network Information and Infrastructure Service Award

The fourth Network Information and Infrastructure Service Award has been awarded to Alain Aina in recognition for his contribution to improving Internet connectivity, development and sustainability in Africa.

 

Mrs Isatou Jah of QCELL presented the Award to Alain Aina during AFRINIC's 16th  Public Policy Meeting in Serekunda, The Gambia. Alain Aina presently holds several positions in numerous organisations. He is the Special Projects Manager at the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC), a Board of trustee at ISOC, DNSSec Crypto officer at ICANN and Managing Director of TRSTech.
