AfriNIC is part of the global Internet technical coordination system. Four other Regional Internet Registries have the authority to manage Internet Number Resources:

Asia Pacific Network Information Centre American Registry for Internet Numbers
   
Latin America & Carribean Network Information Centre Reseaux IP Europeens – Network Coordination Centre

All the RIRs receive their address blocks from IANA (The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority). The address distribution follows the structure below:
