  1. Summary of the Problem Being Addressed by this Policy Proposal

    Removal of the restriction to DNS-root server operators in the IPv4 PI policy, critical infrastructure criteria, in order to include ccTLDs and possibly significant SLDs.

     

  2. Summary of How this Proposal Addresses the Problem

    Remove restrictive wording in the “Core DNS service provider” definition.

     

  3. Proposal

    3.1 Replace the definition "Core DNS service provider”:
    A core DNS service provider is a company who provides DNS services for the root level of the DNS tree (ICANN-sanctioned root operators)."

    with

    A core DNS service provider is a company who provides DNS services for services for the root level of the DNS tree (ICANN-sanctioned root operators), any ccTLD in the AfriNIC service region and any significant SLD."

    3.2 The author assumes and understands this has always been the intention, but believes the current wording is too restrictive.
