Objectives and Agenda of the Workshop

As first step of the Anycast Root Server Project AfriNIC is organizing a workshop for IXP from its service region.

The aim of the workshop was to inform IXPs in the region about AfriNIC's Root server project and allow participants to understand:

  1. The root server system and Operations
  2. Why are local copies of root servers important?
  3. Why IXP are the best place to host Copies of Root Servers?
  4. Anycast technology,
  5. Requirements for root copy and deployment at IXPs

In a wider scope, the workshop also provided a better collaboration within IXP in AfriNIC service Region’s in order to share experience on developing added value service at IXP.
