Objectives and Agenda of the Workshop
As first step of the Anycast Root Server Project AfriNIC is organizing a workshop for IXP from its service region.
The aim of the workshop was to inform IXPs in the region about AfriNIC's Root server project and allow participants to understand:
- The root server system and Operations
- Why are local copies of root servers important?
- Why IXP are the best place to host Copies of Root Servers?
- Anycast technology,
- Requirements for root copy and deployment at IXPs
In a wider scope, the workshop also provided a better collaboration within IXP in AfriNIC service Region’s in order to share experience on developing added value service at IXP.
