Further to our earlier communique issued on 16 December 2019 on the alleged theft of AFRINIC’s IP number resources, we wish to further appraise our members and the community as follows:
- The Mauritius Police Force has initiated an investigation into the matter and AFRINIC is fully supporting the latter in their investigations.
- AFRINIC acknowledges that the consequences of the aforesaid IP number resources thefts will undoubtedly have international ramifications. As such, all needful will be done to collaborate with relevant foreign law enforcement agencies when so required.
- AFRINIC has a zero-tolerance policy for misconduct and it is pursuing its internal control to establish whether there may be other undetected similar cases. If so, appropriate actions will be taken and those found culpable will be held to account.
- In regard to identified cases of IP number resources thefts, actions have been initiated to recover the resources and the process of updating our WHOIS database is also ongoing.
Finally, AFRINIC assures both its members and the community that appropriate action will be taken to protect the interests of the company and its resources. AFRINIC will continue to update you on the above matters.

Atualizações nas investigações policiais sobre roubo de recursos de números IP
Caros colegas,
Na sequência do nosso comunicado anterior, emitido em 16 de Dezembro de 2019, sobre o alegado roubo dos recursos de número IP da AFRINIC, desejamos informar ainda mais os nossos membros e a comunidade, como se segue:
- A Polícia das Maurícias iniciou uma investigação sobre o assunto e a AFRINIC está a apoiar plenamente esta última nas suas investigações.
- A AFRINIC reconhece que as consequências dos supracitados recursos de número de IP terão, sem dúvida, ramificações internacionais. Como tal, tudo o que for necessário será feito para colaborar com as agências de aplicação da lei estrangeiras relevantes quando assim for exigido.
- A AFRINIC tem uma política de tolerância zero para condutas impróprias e está a seguir o seu controlo interno para estabelecer se pode haver outros casos semelhantes não detectados. Se assim for, serão tomadas as medidas apropriadas e aqueles que forem considerados culpados serão considerados culpados.
- Em relação aos casos identificados de roubo de recursos de número IP, foram iniciadas ações para recuperar os recursos e o processo de atualização de nossa base de dados WHOIS também está em andamento.
Finalmente, a AFRINIC assegura tanto aos seus membros como à comunidade que serão tomadas as medidas apropriadas para proteger os interesses da empresa e dos seus recursos. A AFRINIC continuará a actualizá-lo sobre os assuntos acima mencionados.
